An app for the evening

Bedtime stories made from your child's words

Your child says what should be in it. Mimi, Chuchu and OmOm turn that into a story that did not exist yesterday, with their name in it, and read it aloud.

Coming to the App Store For iPhone, iOS 18 and up. The first story is free.

II

Your child says what is in it

Two to five words into the microphone, or pictures tapped. Each of them is in tonight's story.

III

An evening with muri

Six steps, one minute to read. The child does not need to read any of them.

  1. Who is listening?

Your child taps its picture. With two children, both.

  2. Who tells the story?

Mimi, Chuchu or OmOm. Each has a voice of its own.

  3. What is in it?

Your child says two to five things into the microphone or taps pictures. The microphone is heard on the phone only.

  4. The light

The story is written in about thirty seconds and read aloud, three to fifteen minutes long.

  5. The shelf

Every story stays on the shelf and can be heard again without a network. A star keeps a favourite.

  6. For parents

Behind the lock: children, lengths, what must never appear, what the stories give along. A parent number locks the door.

What muri looks like

Six screens from the app, as a child sees them.

A story the way muri tells it

The Duck in the Rain

3 minutes · for 2-3 years

It was evening. Mia sat at the window. Rain tapped on the glass. Tap, tap, tap.

Mum sat close by. Mum was warm and soft. Mum said, listen to the rain. The rain was singing a little song.

A small duck came over the grass. The duck was yellow. The duck went waddle, waddle, waddle. The duck stopped at a puddle.

Mia put on little boots. Mum put on a big coat. They opened the door. The rain was soft and kind.

The duck looked at Mia. Quack, said the duck. Mia looked at the duck. Quack, said Mia.

The duck jumped in the puddle. Splash! The rain fell on the duck. The duck did not mind. The duck loved the rain.

Mia jumped in the puddle. Splash! The rain fell on Mia. Mia did not mind. Mia loved the rain too.

The duck shook its feathers. Shake, shake, shake. Drops flew everywhere. Mia shook too. Shake, shake, shake.

Then the duck walked on. Waddle, waddle, waddle. Mia walked on too. Mum walked on too.

The path was long. The path was wet. The rain fell softly. Pit, pat, pit, pat.

They found a new puddle. Splash, splash, splash! The duck was happy. Mia was happy. Mum was happy too.

They found a big puddle. It was round and wide. It was the pond. Many ducks swam there.

The little duck swam in. Quack, said the little duck. Quack, quack, said the ducks. The duck was home.

Mia waved at the duck. The duck waved a wing. Then Mia and Mum went home. The rain walked with them.

Mum rubbed Mia dry. The towel was fluffy. Dry socks. A warm bed.

Tap, tap, tap, sang the rain. The duck was asleep on the pond. Mum tucked the blanket up high. And Mia was fast asleep too.

V

In the evening it goes dark

Twenty seconds after the first word the colours begin to sink. At the end the screen is black and the voice is still speaking. So every story ends in sleep, not in light.

Who writes the stories

An AI writes every story from your child's words. muri checks every paragraph before it is read: nothing scary, nothing fast, no open endings. An AI voice reads. muri tells the child so itself the first time, and it stands on every page.

VI

For parents

The microphone stays on the phone

What your child says is recognised on the iPhone. No sound leaves the device.

Nothing without your yes

First names, ages and the chosen words go to the server only after you agreed. Without a yes, muri tells the stories it carries.

No account, no ads

muri needs no email and no password. There are no ads and nothing to collect.

A door for grown-ups

Settings and the subscription sit behind a number puzzle or your own parent number.

Delete everything, any time

One tap removes children, names and shelf from the phone and the counter from the server.

What must never appear

You list themes muri never tells. Darkness, monsters, whatever your child does not like.

What a story can give along

Parents choose up to two. The story follows them without preaching.

VII

The muris

Far behind the last star live the muris. All day long they collect stories, and every evening they bring one home.

Mimiblue, one eye, stars in the hair

Mimi loves to dream. Her voice is young and quiet, like someone who has just seen something lovely.

Chuchuyellow, two horns, a wide smile

Chuchu is the big calm one. His voice is deep and warm, and he asks the questions at the start.

OmOmred, eyes on stalks, a skirt

OmOm is a little scatterbrained and very happy. His voice hops, and sometimes he hops along.

Questions parents ask

What is muri?

muri is an iPhone app that tells children aged 2 to 10 a new bedtime story every evening. The child says two to five words or taps pictures, an AI writes a story with the child's name from them, and one of three characters, the muris, reads it aloud.

How is a story made?

The child chooses the things that should be in it. muri's server hands first names, ages and the words to an AI that writes the text. muri checks every paragraph, then an AI voice reads. It takes about thirty seconds.

What age is muri for?

Children from two to ten. The child's age sets how long and how simple the story is: three minutes for the smallest, up to fifteen for school children.

What does muri cost?

The first story is free. After that there is a subscription in the App Store, monthly or yearly, with a free trial. The App Store shows the price in your currency. Every story told stays on the shelf without a subscription.

Is muri safe for my child?

The microphone is processed on the phone only; no sound leaves the device. Data goes to the server only with your consent. There are no ads, no account and no chats. Settings sit behind a parent lock.

Who writes the stories?

An AI, under rules muri sets: calm, safe, no open endings, always with the child at the centre. Every paragraph is checked. muri tells the child the first time that a computer makes up the stories.

Which languages does muri speak?

The app can be read in German, English, Turkish, Russian and Arabic. Stories and voices exist in German and English.

Does muri work offline?

Everything on the shelf works without a network. A new story needs a connection. Offline, muri tells one of the stories it carries.

Can I share a story?

Yes, as a link. Grandparents read it in the browser, families with muri put it on their own shelf. The link lasts thirty days and can be deleted at any time.

Is there an Android version?

Not yet. muri comes first for iPhone, iOS 18 and up.

Tonight?

The first story takes a minute and costs nothing.
